WHAT WE DO: Partner Support

Pathfinder International believes that fostering local involvement and ownership is critical to the long-run sustainability of our programs. To ensure this, we are deeply committed to building the capacity of local organizations that work to improve the reproductive health of their societies.

Since the 1950s, when Pathfinder provided seed money to establish the first family planning organizations in Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Kenya, we have partnered with local nongovernmental, community-based, and faith-based organizations throughout the developing world. For the bulk of our 50 years, we’ve collaborated extensively with local and national governments, including several Ministries of Health.

Pathfinder’s capacity-building work is designed to make our partner organizations stronger, more effective, and more responsive to the needs of the communities they serve. We provide them with the grants, tools and technical assistance needed to successfully manage resources, implement activities, raise funds, and thrive independently once Pathfinder support has ended.
