WHAT WE DO: Community-Based Work
Since the late 1970s, Pathfinder International has worked with communities throughout the developing world to bring reproductive health and family planning services to some of the world’s most vulnerable populations.
From underserved urban neighborhoods to isolated rural areas, we expand access and knowledge, stimulate acceptance, and create awareness and ownership of reproductive health and family planning activities. We train community-based reproductive health agents to deliver family planning information and commodities in the marketplace, in small shops or kiosks, and in homes. We build the capacity of community-based organizations to carry out sustainable reproductive heath care interventions, engage local religious leaders and public officials to foster cultural acceptance of family planning, and deliver income generation assistance and life-changing home-based care to people living with HIV/AIDS and their families.
