Reducing Stigma and Raising Awareness: The APHIA II Nairobi/Central Advocates, August 2008

Since the early days of the HIV epidemic in Kenya, stigma has surrounded the disease, discouraging people from discovering their status or seeking help when they most need it. Through the Pathfinder led APHIA II project, advocates work to reduce stigma and encourage people to be tested. 
 

The Integrated AIDS Program: Decreasing Stigma through Quality Services, August 2008

Pathfinder/Kenya began supporting the Integrated AIDS Program in 2003 through the Pathfinder-managed COPHIA project. This paper describes the challenges and successes of decreasing stigma over the last five years as the project has continued under APHIA II.  
 

HIV Prevention Among Vulnerable Populations: The Pathfinder International Approach, 2008

This publication provides a background in the risks faced by populations especially vulnerable to HIV/AIDS. The document outlines strategies effective in prevention of HIV/AIDS among sex workers, men who have sex with other men, and injecting drug users. Programs described include peer education, comprehensive health services and quality of treatment, provider referral networks, and in-service training and sensitization.

Mapping of Community Home-Based Care Services in Five Regions of the Tanzania Mainland, 2006

The study documents the concerns of people living with HIV/AIDS, community health workers, primary care providers, and other stakeholders to inform Pathfinder’s support to national efforts to scale-up community home-based care. The proposed project aims to replicate Pathfinder’s successful community home-based care model in other areas and improve access to home-based care for more Tanzanians.
